I tried a sampling of different DVD-writers - all with current firmware - 
all in different computers - four in total (LG, Samsung, Pioneer, BTC).
I think that's a pretty good sample.  These are different chassis.  One is 
USB, one in my HTPC, and two different laptops.  I also tried two different 
brands of CD-R's.


All produced errors.  Even with the recomended Ubuntu ISO burner.  Error 
counts went up when tested in a DVD ROM that the disc wasn't burned in.
