But i was using:
N0EOP-14>SY4Y0Q,W8GUC,KB9GYO-3,WIDE2*,qAo,KC9HAX:\'pQ8l\"1v/]\"44}

And this decodes as:

N0EOP-14>SY4Y0Q,W8GUC,KB9GYO-3,WIDE2*,qAo,KC9HAX:\'pQ8l\"1v/]\"44}
 APRS Data Type= (** Beacon, not APRS) 


I'm using:
TM The G3NRW APRS Packet Decoder
Version 2.0 (16 June 2000)

So if you can decode 
N0EOP-14>SY4Y0Q,W8GUC,KB9GYO-3,WIDE2*,qAo,KC9HAX:\'pQ8l\"1v/]\"44} then 
i might be using another version of the script?
Or i have to check that php is not parsing th / \ etc wrong
