[aprssig] The new D710 and Smart Beaconing?

I have just spent the last hour reading through or
should I say wading through the montage of emails that
have been posted today over SmartBeaconing. Some
people are right on the mark and some are about as
ignorant and humanly possible on the subject.

The whole time, while reading this a single example
kept comming to mind. Take two mobiles parked at work
for 8 hours. One is running a Kenwood beaconing once
every three minutes. The other is running
SmartBeaconing with a slow rate of <5 MPH and beconing
once every 30 minutes. The Kenwood ends up sending
160 packets in that eight hour period, while the
SmartBeaconing device sent 16. Now tell me who is
loading down the channel!

So this raises some questions. First, why the hell
would you have to beacon the SAME location 160 times
in eight hours? How can you justify this? Is it now
clearer how a PROPERLY setup SmartBeaconing device can
severly reduce channel QRM? Lastly, why do the
Kenwoods get a pass?
