If the "End User" can support FTP on his own station, then he is really
only using the intermediate xNOS nodes as "routers". And they will indeed
pass FTP, or any other IP protocol for that matter. And yes, the "End
User" is operating his station as Administrator/Root/Sysop.

But if the "End User" does not have FTP available to him on his home
station, then he will have to pass the file using [U]pload and [D]ownload.

Unless what you are saying is that say an "End User" chooses to connect
via AX.25 to a nearby xNOS node. Then try to FTP a file either to or from
that node with a distant node. Then no, he does not have the luzury of
using FTP since it is *not* one of the Alphabet-Soup command line options.

I guess I really don't see any need for the end user to have that
option. Even if he did FTP a file from a distant node to his nearby node,
he is *still* stuck with using [D]ownload to get a copy of that file
(since he couldn't run FTP at his home station in the first place).
