[nos-bbs] Missing something more basic?

Hi Demetre!

It sounds as if you think I was proposing to ignore 44-house IP 
addresses. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Part of my 
comment was that nearly all Ham gear has no MAC address. A example of 
a MAC address is the ethernet address uniquely embedded in each 
ethernet transceiver. There is nothing like that in a TNC! The 
44-house IP address is something completely different...

As for emergency comms - JNOS should be a great way to go. IF the 
automatic routing inherent in the IP protocol can be made to work, 
including HF gateways into the internet, that's all you really need.

I've not done any experimenting with putting a Linux IP port on the 
air, except to know that it can be done. That might be another way to 
approach the problem...
