You need to change the settings. I would use about 2 as slow and 10 as fast.

How often slow and fast beacon is another setting too and that is where 
you keep it from overloading the network. I think for my boat 2 was slow 
and 4 fast. For the airplane tracker it was more like 20 and 100 and a 
path change once altitude was > 1000 feet. Below 1,000 it was WIDE2-2 
and above 1000 no path at all.
