Out of curiosity I just did a direct connection to third.aprs.net, put
in a solitary r/ range filter (no budlist filters) for a radisu of 1000 km.

Some of the packets returned:

W9WDX-B>APDG02,TCPIP*,qAC,W9WDX-BS:!3409.55ND11759.56W&RNG0019 440 Voice
446.86000MHz -5.0000MHz
W0HF-B>APJI40,TCPIP*,qAC,W0HF-GS:!3221.00ND11100.00W&RNG0040 440 Voice
445.800 -5.00 MHZ
W0HF-B>APJI40,TCPIP*,qAC,W0HF-GS:<IGATE,MSG_CNT=0,LOC_CNT=1
KJ6OOV-B>APDG02,TCPIP*,qAC,KJ6OOV-BS:!3703.70ND12200.60W&RNG0000 Voice

So as far as the core APRS-IS servers go, the data is there in the feed.
