A slightly different twist - other packet channels should use APRS for
resource discovery and identification...    Even the wideN alias
scheme works well.

A few of us have been using TCP/IP on APRS channel with with wideN
aliases for months.  Not the best but it does work.

PS  Ok - it's a local 9600 UHF channel but it would work on 144.39 if
there wasn't much local activity as is far too often the case.
