And we're talking about using the object information in devices that DO 
NOT HAVE ANY built-in "standards".  APRS is about more than just native 
APRS-capable radios.  We're trying to get more people into APRS with 
radios that don't have built-in TNCs, and may not even have built in 
"standard" offsets.

If the radio does not have a standard, then what the offset is needs to 
be communicated even if the repeater itself DOES have a standard.

There's a whole lot more radios out there than D7xs and VX-8/FTM-350s.  
And some of them have no understanding of "standard" offsets, so why not 
pass all of the necessary information for a QSO, and make no assumptions 
of knowledge in the receiver?
