But the menu has separate INPUT and OUTPUT menu's. So if its not supposed
to be done, then the bug is that the menu;s don't match reality. Bob

Probably not a bug. Typical devices expect to have a single GPS active
at any point in time. If you expect it to talk to an external GPS, then
it will expect the GPS source to come from there. From an
implementation point of view, it makes sense to require the external GPS
to be enabled to get waypoints to go out there.
