[aprssig] Should a digipeater digi a message sent to itself?

Looking at the digipeat storm I was just involved in, I was wondering: should a digipeater repeat a packet or message addressed specifically to that digipeater?

My station was configured as a WIDE1-1 digi, so it might have repeated the queries and responses it got back (though it shouldn't because the other digi should have decremented the SSID of the alias to zero). Regardless, should it have recognized that it was the designated destination station for the packet and not digipeated the packet again even if the packet would have otherwise been digipeated?

Do other digipeaters recognize when they are the destination and not just a relay?

Just curious.
