I just sent a message to a D7. I received a regular ACK and then received
an "auto answer" in the form of... "RCVD 73 de RANDY TH D7A". I
followed this up with another message and received the same "auto answer"
again... in other words, no [AA]. I was watching on RF and looked at the
raw data at aprs.fi as well. I'll speak to my friend and suggest that he
manually enters [AA] ahead of his auto answer.

Even though some clients comply with the [AA] I still think that "auto
answers" are of limited value, unless they convey useful information.
In the case of the message that I sent to my friend, a simple ACK with
have done the job.
