[aprssig] D 710 Keyboard ?

W2FS, John Hansen, did the D700 keyboard that does NOT work on the D710.  Kenwood changed the interface.  If the D710 still uses DTMF from mic to radio, that part should work, but the upper F-Key functions (resistors) on the D700 Mic did the other necessary functions.

If the messaging commands are present in the 710 (like the D700), I didn't see them, *and* someone does a CAT interface version, that could do it.

On the D700 I've done some exploratory CAT (serial port) coding that shows that CAT based messaging is possible, but don't own a 710.

Has anyone come up with a Keyboard for the Kenwood D 710?

I remember someone having made a keyboard to dtmf interface to write messages on the d700, should work on the d710 too, for more functions you would need a keyboard to kenwood commands interface preferably with a display so you are not typing blind.

pretty tall order for a simple pic but might be doable on a z80, 6510 or one of the other clasic 8 bitters.
