With radios like they are now, not true.  In the digital area, this is like popcorn.  Can be made anywhere any modern facility (even in contract factories), therefore, there isn't anything new to be paid for in that area...just the development costs which is no different than any other radio or product these days.
  This is the staert of FM radio and the VHS-Beta all over again.  What gets accepted widely will last, all else will die.
  To many think digital is the perfect solution to everything with no disadvantages, so it's a rush to digital.
