Mark,
Just google "bluetooth serial adapter". IOGear has one that I believe
my son (KJ4DXK) has used for several applications. I've used one for
years as a remote serial extension for a FIRST (usfirst.org) robot, but
I don't remember it's (generic) brand.
Have you considered just buying a new Bluetooth GPS? I've seen them for
$40 generic and DeLorme sells a BT-20 for $99.99 that is both BT and USB
and comes with their latest Street Atlas software. You'll pay almost
that much for a BT serial device in my experience.
I just found http://www.buygpsnow.com/ by googling "Bluetooth GPS".
Amazing prices and some for a limited time.
Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Not associated with either IOGear nor DeLorme. Just
a happy customer of both.

The Garmin's primary use is for APRS, but I'd also like to have the data piped to the smartphone too. Modules are fine, but complete units are OK as long as they can be powered externally by 5 or 13.8 volts (I don't need a fully-portable solution). Cheap is always good. Any recommendations from others who might have done this already?
