[aprssig] GPS attachment for Kenwood TH-D7?

The new SiRF III-based units from Deluo are smaller than the GPS 18, and
probably more sensitive, though I haven't done any testing yet myself.
They're a little cheaper, too.

I talked to Deluo's CEO last week about APRS-related stuff, and explained
that I carry the GPS 18 because it operates at very high altitudes (which
none of the Deluos will) and it also has a 1pps timing output. They've
already got a timing receiver, but he was going to look into the feasibility
of getting another device or an alternate firmware that'd be able to handle
high altitudes. If those SiRF units would work for balloons, that'd be
great.

I think someone here or on one of the balloon lists mentioned a GPS vendor
that'd provide an alternate firmware for their engines that'd allow
operation at high altitudes. Does anyone here know about that? I'd like to
be able to point Deluo in the right direction.
