Besides NMEA in/out, be sure that the unit has a SERIAL port, not USB, if 
you want to attach it directly to a TNC.  Many GPS now come with USB 
interfaces, and only a few have the old style serial ports.

I am in the market to up grade my GPS  -3 plus.
I am having problems with finding which Garmin GPS has NMEA input and 
output.
