What that doesn't tell you is if they support $GPWPL input or not. I'm going to start a list of units known to support it once I get home.

You can check the NMEA features of each Garmin unit at their web pages.
If the specifications page doesn't make it clear, the manual at least
has the details.
Some rules of thumb:
1) etrex units with black-and-white screens have a serial port
2) etrex units with color screens don't have a serial port (they only
have USB)
3) gpsmap 60 ja 76 -series all have serial ports, current models have
both serial and USB.
4) just about all of the marine units have serial port(s), some might
have usb as well
So basically if you make your pick from the marine or outdoor product
range and stay away from the etrex-units with color screens, you should
have a working serial port. Of course when you find a unit that
interests you, check its specification page and/or manual to be sure of
the ports available.
