That's how older versions of xastir will look on initial build.

The later versions have a default local world map.  At this point, the
do-it-yourself method is the only way you'll be able to get that recent
version on a Mac, because clearly nobody's got the binary built for 
distribution.

The good part of getting set up to do the build from source is that once you're
set up it's mostly a one-shot deal, and after that you can get updated 
quickly --- just download the source and recompile.  With a binary 
distribution you have to rely on the person who built it having the time to 
build a new one.
