Very nice.. it's got my head going now! So many possibilities it's endless.
I got to start asking at work if they plan to get our suppliers to provide
Linux drivers for our AirCard.

I have used APRS both via RF and Broadband using my companies Air Card which
can give some really impressive speeds while moving depending on where in
the
country you are. Even in poor coverage areas it's still multiple times
faster
than dial up and in good areas it will be better than most DSL connections!

I have never tried to use my air card with the PC tucked away but I am sure
hams could figure out a way to mount an external 1900 antenna so the PC can
be underneath the seat. So many possibilities for hams on the move and
even search and rescue! Your own moving web server....

By the way I know 1 or 2 APRS hams maybe more are also employed by Verizon.

are a Verizon Ham join us on yahoo, this is a restricted list but active and
retired Verizon employees are encouraged to join for "networking" and to
assist
in the ham community.

I have been tossing around the idea of a mini-itx
computer for in my truck.  As far as touchscreen LCDs
go, the best on the market seems to be he Xenarc

Check out www.mp3car.com to see what some people are
doing for in-car computer solutions.  Some really
amazing stuff including full bondo/fiberglass
fabrications of consoles and in-dash displays.
