Jason,

One other caveat on the GPS18 PC/LVC units, DO NOT USE MORE THAN 5VDC! 
If anyone were to plug into 12VDC they surely will have a hockey puck. 
Other than that it is a good unit and is programmable, which makes it 
even better.

For powering my GPS18, I bought a Belkin E Series Mobile Power Cord. 
Model number: F8V7015-E-MK.  This is for the Kyocera cell phones 
regulated at 5VDC.  I cut the end off and put my own connector on.

If anybody owns a Garmin Foretrex 201, the coaxial end will fit this GPS 
so you can charge while mobile.

These (power cord) can be purchased at Wally-World (Wal-Mart).  They 
sell for less than $10, I do believe.
