Our group is in the process of putting up a new digi. Hardware stuff is
done and some preliminary on-air testing has been done but we don't want to
put it up permanently until we're sure about how it should be configured.
We're no experts to be sure.
Monticello is located in East Central Illinois right on I-72, in between
Decatur and Champaign. We are at least twenty miles from the nearest digi
in any direction. The test digi can directly hear KA9RES and W9MBD now, and
will probably hear at least three other digis in our area after it goes up.
I'm looking for specific recommendations for UIDigi in regard to path,
beacons, uitrace, uiflood, etc.
I've been directed to various web sites, but they either are not specific
to UIDigi or contain contradictory information.
Our ARRL SEC is recommending: http://www.qsl.net/ares-il/APRS.html as a
guide, but it isn't specific enough for us rookies. It may also better
apply to Northern IL which is much more densely packed with users than our
area - I don't know.
Any help would be appreciated either on list or off. Thanks,
Steve
