Hi John,

Thank you for the reminder. To be honest, I have not been thinking
terribly straight the past while, so even things like this seem to
be slipping my mind from time to time. I appreciate it, thank you.

> In future, will each change in the 'official' rsync module have
> its own unique version number?

Yes. The official will perhaps change only a few times a year, or
as has been the case, maybe once a year ? It depends what modules
I am comfortable taking out of development and moving into a new
official version. It's not as frequent as the 'early days' ...

> If so, how would I find the version number of files I just rsync'ed ?

There is a single source file which always reflects the version of
the source code that it's part of. This file is called version.c

> I hope it will be in a file in the 'official' rsync module.

Yes.

Exactly. The official is just a repository now, for the latest stable
release, not doing anymore development in it, it's to remain clean.

People that want to test development code can use the 'development'
rsync module to bring in files ON TOP of their official source, and
the 'development' code will have it's own version.c as well.

Exactly. It was becoming a mess, and I apologize if it's become
maddening
for you folks. I never intended it to be that way, but that's how my
mind
works sometimes, so I am trying to get more 'organized' with all of
this.

You too, thanks again John.
