[nos-bbs] How open *.txt.gz files of the list

hi, I want read the archives of the mailing list, and can't not open this.
I try in windows with winrar, it extracts the files,  but , the txt file is only a collection of a "Chinese" characters.I try in Ubuntu with the file roller utility, and the result is the same.
Help Please.
