OK Steve.

Don't forget to compose your message to the robot in pure ascii (no html)
Messages in html format will be refused to prevent spam.

The robot will reply to you if it is in pure ascii but not if it is in html.
Most problems with "no reply" are caused by this.

Hi Steve,

You need also a static commercial ip number from your provider if you want
to route an amprnet subnet for your area.

You register that info with the robot of Jim Fuller.

That info is here:

http://www.ampr-gateways.org/updates/updates.html

A new gateways list will be made once a day by the computer with all gateway
info and from that list a
"encap.txt" will be extracted what is your routing table to other subnets.
Both are available for download.
You can make use of this encap txt or the rip table broadcast by ucsd.
Most gateways convert the encap.txt to its linux equivalent with a script
("munge" script) and use it in that way.

You can subsribe to the list of amprnet gateway operators at:

http://hamradio.ucsd.edu/mailman/listinfo/44net

All gateway operators are members of this list. (hopefully)

Write me off list if you need more info and example of an entry, etc.

Hi All

Just getting back into NOS using JNOS2 after a very long break from it all
(1996) so really I am new

And fighting my way through setting up again, I have an ampr address and IP
and from what I can find it would seem I need to register somewhere to be
included in encap or the rip system, and even to get others via those
methods

Trouble is the only contact I could find seemed to be an invalid email
address.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated
