O.k. I'm aware of that approach for managing interfaces, however, I'm
not aware of any reason why that can't all be initiated by a script
run as root after the system is up.

I load my modules, I bring up my interfaces and configure them and
start the daemons...why would that differ if run after the system is
up from running in the init process?
