Recent versions of JNOS 2.0 have a feature in which ANY messages composed
at the BBS prompt can have a special field placed into the message header,
allowing the recipient of the message to know from where the composer of
the message came from.

Some of you may not like this, so here's how it works ...

In the config.h file (by default) there is a define :

  #define MAIL_HDR_TRACE_USER_PORT

Some time ago I added a feature to JNOS so that any messages
composed by a signed in user will have a special mail header
added to the message, 'X-JNOS-User-Port'.

Here are some EXAMPLES :

 1) Here we have the station (user), ve4pkt, telneted into my
    JNOS system from the 44.135.112.32 machine. He sent a message
    to me, and this is part of what the header looks like.

  Received: from ve4klm.ampr.org < snip >

  Subject: Greetings Maiko
  X-JNOS-User-Port: Telnet (ve4pkt @ 44.135.112.32)  -> Sending message
  ...
  ...

 2) Here we have a station (user), ve4ip, who is connected to
    my JNOS system from the netrom node (VE4PKT), and he has
    decided to send me a local mail to my account on my BOX.

  From ve4ip at ve4klm.ampr.org Sat Feb 11 22:42:07 2006
  Received: from ve4klm.ampr.org by ve4klm.ampr.org (JNOS2.0e) with SMTP

  Subject: Test Message
  X-BBS-Msg-Type: P
  X-JNOS-User-Port: Circuit (MBWPG:VE4PKT VE4IP)  ->   Sending message

That's it. So now you know :-)
