That is incorrect. JNOS more or less is the same regardless of whether
you run it in DOS or Linux. The only limitation is memory, that's all.

I've run IPIP in Linux for years now. Some simply find it easier to have
the linux side do the tunneling (using the tunl device in ifconfig) then
have JNOS do it. It all depends on the type of connection you have to the
internet, whether you have a firewall router in place, etc.

For a while I did that. But now the last few years I have had a STATIC
ip address to my home. With a firewall router, I simply put my the box
running JNOS on the DMZ host of the firewall router, and with creative
routing on the firewall router, I am able to do the old JNOS IPIP encap
once again. Works like a charm.

If you don't have a static ip address, you can still do the DMZ thing
, it's just that you'll have to find yourself a static host who is willing
to let you REMOTE them at regular intervals.

That should be enough hints for starters ...
