That suggests an IO error when trying to talk to the
pseudo-tty device used in the slip connection.

1) Is this consistent from the start of JNOS running ?

2) When JNOS first starts up, are there any errors when
the slip interface is attached ? Is it possible that
the interface did not attach for some reason.

3) Is SLATTACH running on the linux side ? When it gets
started, do you know for a fact that it is still running?

note: just recently a few people found that the slip.o kernel
driver was not installed by default anymore in the more recent
versions of redhat, etc. If you manually start SLATTACH from
the linux command line, does it start properly ?

4) Are you attaching to the proper side of the pseudo-tty,
for example SLATTACH should use the master device (ptyp0),
while the JNOS side should attach to the slave (ttyp0) ?

5) Wouldn't hurt to send us the excerpts of your rc.local
that have the commands to start SLATTACH, and the autoexec.nos
entry where you attach and configure the slip interface.

There's just a few questions for starters.
