Of course. The widespread availability of enormously powerful processors at ridiculously low prices and with low power consumption has democratized advanced digital signal processing.

Any modern modulation scheme such as LoRa, VARA, or the JT modes (to mention just three examples) achieves results that 30 years ago would have been considered sorcery! ;)
