Hi,
I just released version 3.0 of Polaric Server.
It is an advanced web-based service to process and present APRS tracking
information
on maps. Possibly along with geographical data from other sources such
as AIS. It
was originally targeted for use by radio amateurs in voluntary search
and rescue
service in Norway. It consists of a web application and a server backend
program
(APRS daemon). In addition there are plugins that can be installed
separately. The
server is written in Java and the client-webapp in Javascript based on
OpenLayers.
The polaric-db-plugin utilizes a PostgresSQL database (with PostGIS
extension) to store data.
It can for example be used to go back in time and see snapshots or
trails (for data that
is stored). There is also a plugin for ais-data and one in development
for DATEX data.
v. 3.0 comes with a new authentication scheme (login) which is more
flexible and can be
used by the mobile-app. HTTPS and use of frontend-proxy is now default.
A self-signed
certificate is used (by default) so you may need to tell the browser to
explicitly accept it.
Configuration of server is now done by webapp through REST API and it is
not dependent
of Scala anymore. Various fixes and updates... All packages
(polaric-aprsd, polaric-webapp2
and polaric-db-plugin) now use the same version numbering.
It is free and open source with deb packages and source-code on Github.
Even if it is
originally targeted to Scandinavia, it can be used other places in the
world with proper
configuration. Contributions are welcome.

A live online service is still running on https://aprs.no for the
Norwegian Radio Relay
League.
