D-STAR is a bit of a hairball with components both from Icom and third
parties, mostly closed-source, none updated regularly ...

As an admin on our local D-STAR gateway (running the Icom G3 software
and all the mandatory-by-order-of-US-TRUST and some other packages), I
can tell you that ALL we configure is the lat/lon (plus estimated
range in miles and frequency) for a program called dstarmonitor.  Any
further injection of data is from that application (and maybe others).
It's not the fault of the admins.




... Let me tell you about the CentOS patch that killed all the G3
registration pages because the software that runs it didn't follow the
Tomcat API ...
