Yep. My solution for the camera, which is admittedly excludes most
cameras, is to make sure I can equip it with a AA battery supply. I
normally run low self discharge NiMH, but I can always get some AA
primary cells in a pinch.

I also prefer to have a AA battery case for my HT.
