One big problem with implementing RS232 to Bluetooth adaptors is the lack of reliable power. It is just not there on a DB9 or DB25 RS232 connector. Sometimes, you can steal a little power from one of the hardware flow control pins, but their state(s) are not consistent across various hardware platforms and the available power, when it is available, is quite small. Even the voltage levels are unpredictable.
