And 220 isn't available in other parts of the world, such as Australia.

Maybe it's time to think outside the box and see if one of the Chinese 
manufacturers, Baofeng, et al, would be interested in making a 5-10W 9k6 
ready 23cm mobile rig that would have world wide appeal. Cheap rigs in a 
non-congested band might open up new opportunities for general APRS 
applications.
