Sure, use the charging plug that has 120-240VAC or several hundred VDC
running on the adjacent pins for your connection to your radio/computer.
 I'll wait off to the side and direct the fire trucks to your house.

I've got a crazy idea, it's called wireless, might have heard of it
before.  There are plenty of available COTS options to make a serial
link.  You could get IEEE 802.15.4 (or the related ZigBee) modules or
you could get IEEE 802.11 (wifi) modules, or even Bluetooth or dedicated
modules.  They're relatively inexpensive and are already designed to
pair together for a wireless serial bridge.
