Findu.com<http://Findu.com> (ariss.net<http://ariss.net> is just an alternative name for my servers) connect to the core servers. Connecting a sat gate to the core means one less hop for the data to take, making it more likely your sat gate gets the 'credit' for gating the packet. In practice it should not make any difference in whether the data gets there or not.

Do these sites connect to tier 1 servers or tier 2 to pull data?  The reason for asking is to know which tier server pool I should connect to from my ARISS sgate.  Currently, I am connecting to FIRST.aprs.net<http://FIRST.aprs.net>.  I am contemplating whether to go to my closest Tier2 server pool instead. Wanted to understand the above, prior to making that change on my end.

PS:  For example, APRS.FI site uses the tier2 servers.
