I'm on the road and don't have access to old TNC manuals, but I seem to recall there was a Kantronics command to switch between 7 and 8 bit mode. Can anyone confirm this? If there is then there is a chance someone running a TNC in text mode will not see 8 bit encodings, regardless of program support.
