1)  You could jumper the radio speaker jack to not mute the internal speaker 
when a plug is inserted.

2)  What kind of laptop is this?   The standard Windows audio mixer in every 
installation I've ever seen from Win98 onwards has an input monitor slider on 
the playback (i.e. computer speakers out) side mixer
