Hey, thanks for the reply Kent. The CI-V is what through me. I found
some really old ham retail sites. The thing that bugged me was how out
of date their sites were. Do you have any recommended sites for this
CI-V to USB cable? I really want to make it as easy on him as I can.
He has been plunged into the world of digital and I just want him to
have fun and not have to fight an uphill battle to get something to work.
Again, thank you for the quick reply. PS, he plans to buy an audio
interface for this rig as well. I want to do some searches on these as
well for him since he is way beyond the grid and has no internet available.

The manual is kind of ambiguous and would like to know if anyone here has actually done this and what is required using Vista. I hope it can use a USB cable since his laptop has no serial port. However, maybe one of the USB/serial adapters might have to be used. I'd really appreciate any pointers and help. The info I've found so far is rather dated.
