I was able to get info about the home town of fellow
employees freely and easily online back in the 90's.
Enough so that one could pretend to have lived there.
The purpose was to make them aware and cautious.

Broadcasting when one is not home and where one is
traveling about in a vehicle loaded with potentially
valuable electronic equipment is worthy of caution.

Some thought given to broadcasting real-time location
data via APRS makes good sense.

Defending ones home with redundant security systems,
and legal application of the Second Amendment, are
also wise options.

A dumb or persistent or sophisticated criminal may
challenge any system but such is unlikely given all
of the easy targets ...
