I haven't done any hacking but I have a SPOT Connect (the one which
interfaces with a smartphone), and it communicates directly over satellite
to the SPOT network.
You could theoretically set up one of your email addresses (that you send
"I'm OK/I need help/etc" messages to) to something you own, which would
then have to parse the email into something useful for APRS, or what have
you.
The regular tracking, I think, isn't able to be logged in such a way.
You can provide a public page where people can view your "real-time"
progress (at least as close to real time as it gets - my device only
updates once per 10 minutes regardless of your speed, direction, etc., no
such thing as a "smart beaconing" equivalent). I wonder if there could be
some kind of XML feed that SPOT would be willing to publish for that page.
