I think this is what he was trying to say which constitutes the New-N
paradigm of 2004:

UIFLOOD SS,ID  <== enables SSn-N digipeting and the last Digi inserts its
callsign to ID the last hop heard.

UITRACE WIDE <== enables WIDEn-N digipeating with every digi inserting its
callsign to ID the hops
