If you would like to read an interesting article about hf mobile
antenna's of the past and involvement to just before screw driver
antennas, there is a great pdf article on the Sherwood Engineering Site
at: hfmobile at yahoogroups.com
It is under the Other Tips and & White Papers section named HF Mobile
Antennas <http://www.sherweng.com/documents/HFMobileAntennas-sm.pdf>:
methods to improve radiation efficiency* NEW
You will also probably find of great interest other articles on that
same page, especially the Present-day receivers
<http://www.sherweng.com/documents/Present-dayReceivers-sm.pdf>: some
problems & cures* NEW, and the
DSP Radios - Not Perfect *Dayton Drake Forum 2007 *PowerPoint (ppt
<http://www.sherweng.com/documents/Dayton2007w.ppt>) - Acrobat (pdf
<http://www.sherweng.com/documents/Dayton2007w.pdf>) : Slide #8 click on
speaker to hear sound clip.
Will be mobile a lot the next few weeks in several states operating 6
meters - 160 meters SSB and AM modes. Will make a lot of calls on the
hfpack and milpack frequencies. Also do a lot of AM qso's on 40 - 160
using traditional AM frequencies. While mobile will be at the
equipment, when stationary and at destinations, will be using SkyCommand
with my HT to operate the HF rig in the mobile. Mobile antenna is a HiQ
5/160 screwdriver, and may run a dipole or long ware at some qth locations.
Will also feed Geiger counter data while mobile and at various locations
in TN. http://www.radiationnetwork.com/
Of course APRS will be active while mobile :-]
