In the Apple App Store, search for "PocketPacket".    Despite the misleading 
name, it is actually a mapping APRS application with a soundcard soft TNC 
through the 4-contact combined headphone/mic jack on the iPad/iPhone.

I almost bought it myself, except for the very negative user feedback. 
Apparently almost no one has been able to get the soft TNC to work.

But then again, it may just be that the software/end-user types just don't know 
how to deal with hardware interfacing, cable pinout, etc.......
