[aprssig] are write-only APRS-IS clients valid?

Just to clarify: I think you must be mixing it with something, aprx
does not have an integral server, and does not offer the usual TCP
ports - it's an APRS-IS igate client.

aprx is the igate software written by Matti OH2MQK, and aprsc is the
server we wrote together with Matti. Those are two bits of software
for different purposes: one is for interfacing with radios and
igating/digipeating, and the other is for providing APRS-IS data to a
large number of clients.

In this case, no, because aprx is certainly not an APRS-IS server and
