[aprssig] Garmin Rino Basestation

Hmmm.... What kind of "compatible device"? Sounds like some kind of base station transceiver would be needed to hear the GPS messages broadcast by the Garmin FRS portable units.

Sounds kind of like what you can do with a Kenwood TH-D72 now, with a base radio connected to any of the existing PC-based APRS clients. But adding the FRS units to the map would be useful.

Do any other FRS radios do this besides Garmin's?

Seems pretty new:

Also, in this update is Garmin BaseStation. With BaseStation, you can turn your laptop into a field command center for tracking multiple dogs and/or buddies (other Rino <http://sites.garmin.com/rino/> , Astro <http://sites.garmin.com/astro/> and Alpha <http://www.garmin.com/us/products/onthetrail/track-and-train> GPS users). BaseStation allows you to view real-time GPS information, all on the larger display of your computer, with a compatible device serving as a router/antenna.
