Thanks for that suggestion. Having now read chapter 18 of APRS101.pdf it 
makes sense to use a user-defined format rather than several status 

After discussion with the others involved in the project one option we 
are considering is to send a single telemetry packet with a reduced 
level of accuracy (0.5 dB) so that the median data of five RF channels 
can be displayed graphically on aprs.fi. We can then also send a packet 
(now in user-defined format) with the accurate (0.1 dB) version of the 
data for the project data collection and analysis.

I suppose the next question is who to ask to issue a User ID for the 
user ID packet? I read that I can use {{ for testing.
