Bruce... but your plan is good and can work RIGHT NOW TODAY too.  And
it is just the frist step of AVRS.

But yours can work NOW.  Everyone with a D710, D72, or FTM-350, or VX8
can receive  your proposed GROUP call and with the press of ONE
BUTTON, instantly go to the GROUP repeoater and talk.

The FREQ-QSY Format is already there.  The radios will do the
one-button QSY, and it will all work, just as you have suggested.
Now... all you need to do is get people to actually USE their APRS
radio for communications instead of just driving, watching APRS.FI and
otherwise ignoring it.
