Three of us here in Maryland could not hear each other, though we all did hear a local Echolink Club station passing in a VOICE contact from Georgia.
I couldnt break away to go to the mountain. So I put my office, and home on the air, and we could not even hear each other over 12 miles. While mobile, I also operated on 147.585 TEMP7-7 and only heard digipeats from my own stations.
But don't forget, that you can test the "ad-hoc" network on 144.39 also whenver you see some D710's mobile, because they are always enabled as TEMPn-N digis by factory default. D700's should have the same UITACE TEMP settings, but the owner has to use the serial port to set it PERMANENTLY.
But do not use this shadow ad-hoc capability routinely. It is irritating to the D710 owners being used!
